| Background: | Monica Soldan plays hard for a girl! This is what we have heard about her for the moment. She’s also a multi media artist, DJ, Soundscape Designer, Producer; originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. On the other side to her energetic sets, Monica was one of the first down tempo female DJ’s in Brazil. Her name in Brazil symbolizes cool sounds. She started as a hostess at Lov.e Club, quickly finding her way to the turntables. It was there where she started the “Peace & Love Cocktails”, a project she built with DJ’s Marcelo Shida and Angelo Leuzzi (club boss) it was like this she started to gather her fan base.
A DJ of glamour, she was a model, the “Five Star DJ” she received several complements from the Brazilian press for her fine musical taste. She started an electronic night at the Free Jazz Festival, took part in the Skol Beats Festival based in the VIP ROOM, and played at private tycoons’ parties on huge boats in the Amazon river, on private islands near Rio de Janeiro, in arenas at Mandala, such as La Isla Vivo/Sirena Club and opened the decks for DJ’s such as Steve Lawler. She has also played for Ford Models, MTV, stylist and shoe designer Fernando Pires (who designed for Madonna and Lisa Minelli), famous painters such as Romero Brito, Naomi Campbell top model, Audi, Globo TV, Nokia, Moet & Chandon, Love Club, Disco Club and at Madeira island in Portugal. In London, England she has played at Fashion TV parties, The Collection Club, The Gherkin, APPLE, Gumball racing party UK and also at celebrity parties including people like Kevin Spacey and Tony Blair.
A person with huge amounts of style and a strong personality, she makes the most creative and unexpected musical records. Monica produced her electronic CD ESSENCIAL; down tempo with Brazilian flavours and artists, like number one rock guitar artist Edgar Scandurras. This album was released in Brazil and has now been released in over 26 countries and also available on virgin digital, i-tunes and HMV in Japan. Monica has also done sound tracks for film, theatre and fashion shows. She is sponsored by Puma Brazil and also has huge support from AUDI.
She plays fast electric records, such as “god save the house” and “the queen burnt my techno” and makes her mark when she combines electro and minimal house with funky techno all in the same set. If we could give an approximate definition of her sets on a dance floor, she loves to play everything as long as it’s just great music. It can range from Brazilian styles, through to the best deep house, minimal and techno. She’s known for her “sexy beauty grooving style” which creates a beautiful yet exciting and energetic uplifting set.
