After the great success of HazaRD debut in the beginning of August, Belo Horizonte’s first hard beats party is back for the second instalment at JOY Club Lounge. This time the Drum Trax agency brings to Minas Gerais state Alex S, founder of the label and party brand SP Groove. Alex S started DJing in 1992 and three years after decided to head and live in Amsterdam, where he worked in a renowned vinyl shop, which lead to invitations to be resident DJ in various nightclubs of the town.
Alex S came back to Brazil in 1997 and brought with him a new style of music, the acid techno, resulting in performances in the best festivals around the country: Avonts, XXXperience, Skol Beats and Planeta Atlântida, to name just a few. In the following year Alex S was elected one of the best DJs by mag “Veja” and organised the Groove Nation party, a reference within the techno scene that brought to Brazil UK’s big names such as Chris Liberator and D.A.V.E. The Drummer. Alex S has also played alongside countrymen Anderson Noise and DJ Murphy, among others.
In 2000, he played at XXXperience, in Brasilia, as well as at the Skol Beats festival, where he shared the decks with Paul Oakenfold and Argentinean Hernan Cattaneo. In 2001, Groove Nation changed name to SP Groove. To celebrate the brand’s rebirth, Alex S went on tour around the country with mate Chris Liberator, with gigs in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba and Fortaleza. His first productions came in 2002 and he’s been releasing tracks on his label SP Groove Recordings ever since. Alex S has released material alongside German Eric Sneo, Brazilian Camilo Rocha and American John Selway. His track “That Things SPG04” was part of Dance Valley DVD a few years back.
Also in HazaRD line-up we present Drum Trax residents Pedra, Renato Valadares, Phill and Gustavo Leão (dedicating their sets to hard trance and hard house), with production coming from Márcia Amaral and Vjing from 1mpar.
